Bret and I just got back from getting my "booster" shot for my white blood cells. They said the shot could cause severe bone pain and nausea. I have felt okay today, just very tired so I have spent the most of the day in bed. I did get out for a few minutes to pick up drugs for constipation, dry mouth, mouth sores, etc. These are the wonderful side effects that can come along with the chemo injections along with fatique and nausea and numb fingers and toes. The injection yesterday was no problem. I think taking the Ativan in advance helped me settle down. A nurse met with us first to go over all the different types of meds and possible side effects. After that a new nurse came to get me all hooked up. The port worked great and I didn't even feel any pain when she first accessed it. The entire staff there is very funny - I am sure Bret will be giving them all a hard time very soon and they will be giving it right back. I am thankful that I have not had any nausea yet but the lack of energy is a little worse than I expected. I find that I am also stumbling around and bumping into things which is kind of crazy. I have no appetite at all but Bret is making sure that I am eating. I have been pretty good to keep my fluids going because I read that the more you drink the quicker you can flush all the drugs out of your system.
Thanks to everyone for your constant prayers and emails of encouragement...I look forward to them every day. Your continued generoisty and caring never ceases to amaze me and makes me realize how blessed I truly am!

O.k. girl, here we go, one out of the way! Glad to see you got up and around alittle today. Just take your time and you'll figure out your limits and routine for the next seven!
Keeping you in my thoughts!
Love, Kay
Jan,
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you.
It is very important that you eat even though you don't feel like doing it.
I found that eating small amounts every few hours helped to keep my energy level up.
Your body will soon tell you what foods it will tolorate best.
When my stomach was not happy bananas or baked potatoes seem to sit well.
Each day you'll feel a bit stronger and when it is time for the next treatment you'll be prepared to say, "another one behind me!"
Remember...this too shall pass!

As they say, prepare for the worst and then it'll be easier to get through. You'll keep expecting it to get worse and then it'll be over and you'll say, "Huh! I thought it was going to be worse!". Then time for anther one! And so on until you're done and then just go through the checkups and follow ups and hopefully the good news of erradicating this little sucker altogether.
I have nothing but admiration for the grace with which you are all going through this most difficult of trials. Incredible.
Advice on stumbling and such - just sit! There's a great saying I was reminded of when I read that part, it goes "Don't just do something - Sit there!". Now may be the time to heed that. The body needs the rest. Acknowledge it and make peace with it, and darn it, rest!
Love and prayers, everyone.
Hi Jan,
Thinking about you so I thought I better check in and see how you are. Hope you are feeling better today. Maybe if you're feeling up to it, Bret could take you and the kids for a drive up to Ceaser's Creek. I heard on the news yesterday morning that all the trees are at their peek! Maybe if you can get out of the house, if you feel well enough, that would be a refreshing little drive?
As always...stay strong...we will continue to pray for all of you.
Love,
Sheryl
